The problem

Despite widespread use of prenatal care, the U.S. is the only developed nation to see a steady increase in the rates of pregnancy-related complications and deaths over the past two decades.

Our approach

Using a combination of smart devices and advancements in data science, we are developing the next generation of tools for prenatal care that will allow physicians to identify, continuously monitor, and deliver near real-time care for expectant mother’s at risk for pregnancy-related complications.

The study

Over the course of pregnancy, we will passively gather data from the smart phones of 1000 expectant mothers over the next four years in the Central Texas Area using the HealthyPregnancy app. After the study, the gathered data will be used to assess the participant’s mobility, daily activity, and social behaviors over time as they relate to overall health and well-being as well as pregnancy outcome. Learn More
